Traditional agriculture in Selenca
The natural conditions of the ground,where Selenca is settled,were always very good for the agriculture. Right from beginning the people in Selenca employed themselves in the agriculture and the livestock breeding. When our ancestors first came here,this ground was uncultivated. Here were only woods and moors. In the first place the land had to be reclaimed. The main agricultural device was the harrow. There were the wooden harrows at first,which our ancestors brought from Slovakia.
From Encounters with Selenca’s Craftsmen
In the past of our towns and Selenca too, handcrafts and craftsmen had special place. Skilled workman-mister craftsman- was respected citizen. Besides that daily he had customers from his own town and from other nearby towns, he trained young people from Selenca-first as pupils, then as assistants- they have been preparing for their own handcraft and mastership.
The greater part of handcrafts, which older people of Selenca remember, disappeared. Maybe a need for them was gone, maybe mechanics withdraw them from everyday-life, or the artisans converted to the other kind of manufacture. This way or that way, the good old handcraft, which people say about, that has golden bottom, can’t be forgotten.
OZZ Selenča
"OZZ Selenca" was founded in year 1945. Its primary bussines was to produce and buy, sell and produce agricultural products from our own fields, aslo to buy and sell live stock. During our 60 year's of existenc our farm land have grown and from our first 48 hectare of land we now own 300 hectare of farm land, and in lease we have 1032 hectare more. Agricultural products that are mainly manufactured are: corn, wheat, hemp and broomcorn.
Slovan
Slovan Progres is established on 24.September of year 1980, in form of building-trade society, on founder’s Juraj Bocka initiative and five other cofounders, who had invested from their private funds and made it possible, for Slovan to start working 28 years ago. Slovan started to work with 15 employees. First Slovan residence was on Cajak Street.
Zdravo Organic
Zdravo Organic s.r.o. is society established at the end of the year 2007, by Slovan Progres. Its activity Zdravo Organic expresses through plant grow; grow of fruit and vegetables, through processing of fruit and vegetables and trade. Zdravo Organic organizes agricultural production on its fields as well as on fields of its cooperators and with them sign contracts about production and provides them material for production, fuel and at the end, takes agricultural products from them. Besides contract production, Zdravo Organic ransoms trade over plus in agricultural production. Because of this, it has warehouse capacity
